God is God
He knows everything from the hairs on your head to what you are facing

We read about his splendor in Revelation 1. He is clothed with the garments of the celestial heavens. He walks among the clouds and the angels.  He was dressed in a robe extending down to his feet, and he wore a wide golden belt around his chest.  His head and hairwere as white as wool, even as white as snow, and his eyeswere like a fiery flame.  His feet were like polished bronzerefined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of manywaters. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharpdouble-edged sword extended out of his mouth. His faceshone like the sun shining at full strength.

Psalm 145 Today’s Focus

The psalmist gives himself direction for his life: I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor and your amazing deeds. What is my focus today?

Do I focus on honoring God, His majestic splendor and His amazing deeds? What do I focus on?

When I / we read this and meditate on it, how does it change my/our focus this day the 10th of December, 2024?

Oh Lord How Majestic is Your Name!

ImagePsalm 8 begins and end with the same phrase: “O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth,” “We need not wonder at this, for no heart can measure, no tongue can utter, the half of the greatness of Jehovah. The whole creation is full of his glory and radiant with the excellency of his power; his goodness and his wisdom are manifested on every hand.” [Spurgeon]

And yet even though God is majestic and full of splendor it is the infants and children who understand His majesty more often than those who mature and educated. The Pharisees were indignant when the children were crying out in the temple courts “Hosanna to the Son of David,” and Jesus responded quoting Psalm 8:2. “ From the mouths of children and nursing babies you have ordained praise”  Oh to have such a childlike faith to offer praise as freely as these little ones to the Lord for His power, majesty and splendor.  David’s point was the same as the Apostle Paul’s words: “But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.” [ICor]

Today may we offer praise to Jehovah for truly He is majestic and full of splendor. The heavens and all of creation resound with his work. “For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse.” [Rom 1] and that is why this statement should bring shudders to our soul: the young child of an atheist couple once asked his parents, “Do you think God knows we don’t believe in Him?” [Dr. Constable] Yes God knows for He is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent.

May we begin our week with these words upon our lips: “O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth”

How Do You Worship?

ImageOne of the greatest compliments ever paid to Christianity in the first century is that believers’ lives were so changed from the inside out that they turned the world upside down. Is that what the world says about us or do we fade into the background? If ever there were two psalms that should ignite our passion it is Psalm 95 and 96 which mirror Romans 1:20. God’s very creation sings for joy and we should be as well.

As you read these two psalms note the imperative verbs: Come! Shout! Sing! Bow Down and Worship! Proclaim! Tell! Ascribe! Say! Kneel! Announce every day! How can a Christian be silent when we read words such as these? As you enter the sanctuary open your hearts to worship and let the Illuminating Holy Spirit enter and change you from the inside out. Go forth and proclaim to those about that you are a new creature in Christ…and do it TODAY for Psalm 95 implores that.

Who is the Lord Most High? He is majestic in His splendor, note that the psalmist used that word three times in vs. 6,7,8. What does that mean to you? Spend some time pondering that you are entering the Holy of Holies. Dress in holy attire for you come to stand in the presence of the King of Kings.
