God is God
He knows everything from the hairs on your head to what you are facing

We read about his splendor in Revelation 1. He is clothed with the garments of the celestial heavens. He walks among the clouds and the angels.  He was dressed in a robe extending down to his feet, and he wore a wide golden belt around his chest.  His head and hairwere as white as wool, even as white as snow, and his eyeswere like a fiery flame.  His feet were like polished bronzerefined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of manywaters. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharpdouble-edged sword extended out of his mouth. His faceshone like the sun shining at full strength.

Psalm 145 Today’s Focus

The psalmist gives himself direction for his life: I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor and your amazing deeds. What is my focus today?

Do I focus on honoring God, His majestic splendor and His amazing deeds? What do I focus on?

When I / we read this and meditate on it, how does it change my/our focus this day the 10th of December, 2024?

Mountains, Memories, and Milestones.

share about God

Psalm 76-78 The psalmist is not only talking to himself but to us as well. In Psalm 76:1, he notes that God is known in Judah. Is God known in my sphere of influence? The second thing he recalls is that God is more resplendent, that he shines brightly and reveals his majesty, more majestic than the mountains of prey. Do I see God’s majestic splendor as I awaken even though my landscape is flat, not mountainous?

In Psalm 77:1-2, he cries out to God for help and notes that God pays attention. He also recalls memories of the past when God heard and responded to his groans even when he was troubled and could not speak because of the heaviness of his heart.

In Ps 78:3-4, the psalmist reminds himself not to forget to tell the next generation about the Lord’s praiseworthy acts, his strength, and the amazing things he has done. Am I actively doing that today as well as every other day?

There will be mountains, memories, and milestones in our lives. Which one is the most important to you, to me?

Thunderstorms…Majesty and Grace

Psalm 29 Thunderstorms here in Texas are something to behold, but imagine if you were out in the wilderness with David and his sheep. David saw the power of the lightning and heard the power of the thunder. In a thunderstorm, we can see the trees sway under the control of the wind and the clouds race across the sky.   How far is the storm? They say you can count between the thunder and the lightning to know. The storm comes with power, and then as quickly as it happens, it recedes to the quiet and the fresh rain saturates the ground. As David sat out on the hillside with his sheep, he may have chosen this time of reflection about God.  Perhaps as he was sitting with the sheep, he reflected and recorded these words for us.

Truly God is majestic; He is sovereign, He is mighty. His voice is so powerful it can shatter the most towering cedar in Lebanon. He allows us a glimpse of His majesty in the thunder and lightning. And often God allows us to see the rainbow as a reminder of His grace. When the storm subsides, we are left to hear the quiet and smell the odor of the freshness it brings.

It is in the quiet we should stop and give Him praise for His protection, and acknowledge Him as Lord God Almighty, the one who is sovereign overall.
