The coming of the Holy Spirit
The HolySpirit

John 16 The Helper

What a blessing to read this chapter and to ponder the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Helper whom Jesus promised to those who believe in Him. Although at this point He had not been given, but on Pentecost He will come and indwell each believer. He will teach everything and bring to mind what Jesus taught. Do you know Him? Is He dwelling within you? Once saved, He comes and lives within us so that we may truly believe and learn from Him the all things that Jesus taught.

He speaks to our heart, He recalls the words of our Savior. What a blessing to be a believer and to know these truths.

The question remains: Do you know Him? Is He living within you? Are you listening to His voice? Are you following Him just as the disciples followed Jesus?

God knows you, Do you know Him?

God knows you

“The God of Psalm 139 knows you. Do you know Him?”

From sunrise to sunset or when time began and is evermore before us, the psalmist reminds us through visual imagery that we serve an omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient God! Throughout scripture, different authors portray God as an eternal being aware of our being.

Hagar knew God as El Roi, the God who sees and cares about me. The gospel writers tell us that He is the Bread of Life upon which we may feed and the Living Water from which we may quench our spiritual thirst. The Apostle John wrote that He is and was Immanuel [God with us]. He was manifested in human form that we might understand God is Light and God is Love. [1John 1] He was revealed that we might desire His presence in our lives. Again He is the Good Shepherd that knows and calls his sheep by name yet is intimately acquainted with each one and as the Shepherd sees into the womb where a child is being woven as His perfect tapestry. God knows our mindset, ways, and thoughts, yet we cannot even begin to fathom His thoughts. So the psalmist asks: what is man that He should take notice of them.

Each day spend time with Him in His Word so you know Him as He knows you. Then rejoice in His presence!  Seek Him to lead you step by step that you might honor Him.

The Question is this…

Psalm 48 God is2Let me ask you; Do you know God? Let me tell you about my God because He can be your God too! He is “great and certainly worthy of praise,” He is the defender of both the rich and the poor, the weak and the strong, the young and the old. You may have heard about his mighty deeds, but have you seen them? Observe His fingerprint of lovingkindness upon the lives of those he calls his own. It is because of this that we are to “go and tell” that the next generation may also know and be known as children of the Almighty God.

Are you rich? Are you poor? It matters not your station in life. What matters is that you are certain about your future destiny. If you fail to listen and heed, your destiny will be the same as fools whose shepherd is death and separation from the Almighty God. But if you listen, heed and accept the Living Word, your destiny will be in the eternal heaven and you will be guided on your journey by the Good Shepherd whose voice you hear and know saying this is the way walk ye in it. [Is 30]

Are you Jew? Are you Gentile? Are you male? Are you female? Are you slave or free? In this present world we make distinctions but “there is no partiality with God.” [Rom 2:11] Those who hear his voice and follow, to them the promise is this: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.[ Rom 8:14]

Are the mountains your habitat, the ocean, the desert or the cityscape? Wherever you are—God is there too.  Stop to praise and worship him today.

The question before us is this: Do  you know HIM?

Who is Jesus to You?

Image1Tim 3 “Six Signs Jesus Christ is Who He said He was”

I am sure you have, as I have, encountered two camps of people: (1) those who deny the divinity of Jesus Christ and (2) those who accept Jesus Christ as one who left his divine nature to indwell the human nature. Paul’s one heart desire was that you and I to know Him as he did and to share that truth succinctly with those who are seeking as well as to those who deny. We know for a fact that the scriptures tell us that all will one day bow the knee to Him. In 1Tim 1 Paul essentially provided us clear direction as to who God is. Now in chapter 3 Paul clarifies who Jesus is and thus in turn gives us reasons why we should worship Him and how and why we should be transformed. Over and over through Paul’s epistles to the church he reminds his readers that the purpose of our being “in Christ” is so that we are transformed into His image.

Paul gives us six reasons Jesus is who he said he was from 1Tim 3:

  1. Jesus Christ was revealed in the flesh! He was born in Bethlehem, was carried to Egypt to be protected from the hand of Herod, raised in Nazareth, walked the wilderness and was tested by Satan himself.  The scriptures reveal that the “Son who was a descendant of David with reference to the flesh,” [Rom 1:3]
  2. Jesus Christ was vindicated by the Spirit! God opened the windows of heaven and said “This is my Beloved Son, listen to Him.” The Spirit vindicated Him by raising Him from the dead on Resurrection Day.
  3. Jesus Christ was seen by angels! The night he was born the angelic choir sang forth “Peace on Earth.”  On Resurrection Morning He was seen and proclaimed by the angelic beings.
  4. Jesus Christ was proclaimed among the Gentiles. Jesus walked, taught and healed both Jew and Gentile. He said about the Gentile Centurion “I tell you the truth, I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel” [Matt 8]
  5. Jesus Christ was believed on in the world. As He walked and taught many came to acknowledge Him as the Christ. Jesus asked Peter “Who do men say I am and Who do you say I am” “Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” [Mat 16:16]
  6. Jesus Christ was taken up in to glory. After Jesus told his disciples that they were to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the farthest part of the earth, “he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.” [Acts 1:9]

If we believe all of these six signs as Paul delineated them, it should then transform us both at the outset and continuing on throughout our lives:  “And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” [2Co 3:18] Thus our mandate should be:  “Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.” [Rom 12:2]

Beloved  do you know Him? Have you been with Jesus today and experienced His transforming power?
