9/20/24 Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord

Psalm 105 Recall and Share

The psalmist who wrote these words had one basic reminder: seek the Lord and give Him praise. You wonder as he penned these words if he was recalling the past of his nation and how God preserved the family of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the land of Egypt just as He had promised. As we read this, are we encouraged to recall God’s faithfulness to us today as we seek the Lord, recall His faithfulness and praise Him and Him only. It is good to praise the Lord. It is good to recall His faithfulness. It is good to recall His work to remind us that He alone is faithful. It is good to recall these words so that we are reminded that we too are of the lineage of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob because we are grafted and  part of the true vine, Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord and His faithfulness.

Praise God

Trust God

PSALM 30 No matter what life throws at us, one thing we must do is praise the Lord for he alone is orchestrator of our lives. King David in writing this psalm is reminding us all that both good and bad come from the hand of the Lord so that this truth may be known: “And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” [Rom 8:28]  God has a purpose beyond what we can see at the moment so it is befitting that we praise Him in the highs and the lows. That means we must trust His plan; even if we don’t see the purpose. When we choose praise and prayer more than lamenting then we are able to have a mindset that honors the Lord. Maybe that is why King David wrote: “Then you turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and covered me with joy.” [Ps 30:11]

Today stop and praise the Lord for His plan and purposes are higher than the heavens and thus we can dance with joy.

Hallelujah and Praise the Lord!

Ps 148-150 The psalmist is drawing his book to a close and, with it, a reminder of who God is and why we should praise Him.

Ps 146 Praise Him for the life you are living and sing praises to Him as long as you have life. What are you doing today or plan to do today to give God praise?

Ps 147 It is good to sing praises to our God. What song are you singing today?

Ps 148: Praise God for his revealed attributes, let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty extends over the earth and sky. Which attribute has grabbed your attention today? Praise Him for that!

Ps 149: Praise Jehovah in the assembly of the godly. The Lord takes delight in his people; Praise God for those He has sent your way as believers.

Ps 150: Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him when you view the sky; for his mighty acts, his surpassing greatness. Praise him with song and musical instruments. Let us all, with one accord, praise the Lord.

Begin now to prepare to attend your local congregation so you can praise Him. Until then, take time to reflect and praise the Lord using these psalms.

God is Calling…

God is a promise keeper

Psalm 134; 146-150 Praise the Lord

One thought runs continuously throughout these psalms, which is to praise the Lord! That is how we find peace in the midst of all that is going on in this sin-filled world.  The psalmist is aware of God’s place in the redemption of His people and calls them to praise Him.  Ps 148:14 “And He has exalted the horn of His people, The praise of all His saints––Of the children of Israel, A people near to Him.” [Ps 148:14]NKJV

Three times the Lord has brought His people out of captivity.  Out of Ur, Abram came to Canaan and heard the promise: I will give your descendants this land—but they squandered it.  So, God sent them into Egypt for 390 yrs. of captivity. Then God called them and they returned to the land. Many years later, they squandered that promise again. So God sent them for 70 yrs. into Babylonian captivity. But, as He had done in the past, He returned them to the land. Many, many years later, the Jews were scattered around the world because they refused to submit to God’s plan. At the end of God’s perfect timing, He sent them back to the land in 1948. How patient is our God.

Remember this promise: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” [1Pet 2:9]

Give Him praise!
