What will be your reward?

Matt 25 Faithfulness is Rewarded

Jesus is again teaching and He uses three examples of faithfulness in contrast to the unfaithful. The 5 virgins were faithful to prepare, yet 5 others were not prepared and wanted oil from the faithful. They heard, NO! Go and buy oil for your own lamps. Am I faithful in my preparation to meet to meet the Lord? The slaves were given talents to invest and two did faithfully but the 3rd did not. He was fearful of the Master but did not obey His instructions. The sheep and goats were separated and only the sheep were able to enter the kingdom that God had prepared for them.

Out of these three examples Jesus is saying are you being faithful with the treasures I have given to you. Whatever your gift is use it for Him and His kingdom, otherwise you may hear, I never knew you. What gift has God given you to use for His kingdom? If you don’t know your gift, seek and find and the door will be opened to you.

Footprints and Faith

Ps 77 The psalmists uses a visual to guide us into praising God. These words “You walked through the sea;you passed through the surging waters, but left no footprints.” [Ps 77:19] In the NT we see Jesus walking on the water to His disciples in the middle of the night. What a visual image of His power! He came to them and they thought they had seen a ghost but He said “do not fear, it is I.” When Peter asked to come to Him on the water, He said come. He is saying that to us today, “come.”

Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk to Jesus but his faith faltered. How about us when our Master says come? His other command was “follow Me.” Does our faith falter when we are commanded to not fear and to follow Him?

Today as you ponder His power recall this image to guide you into praising Him.

How to face spiritual warfare

Praise the Lord

Ps 75 Words and Songs of Praise

The news today is the assassination of a prominent Hamas leader in Iran and now the call has gone out to slay Israel. This is not new for in the past the enemies of Israel have sought to destroy her. The warning is clear; the enemies of Israel hate her and Satan is angry and seeks her destruction but listen to the words of the psalmist as he prays: “Do not be proud,” and to the wicked, “Do not be so confident of victory,  Do not be so certain you have won. Do not speak with your head held so high. For victory does not come from the east or west, or from the wilderness. For God is the judge. He brings one down and exalts another.” [Ps 75:4-8]

Today we face the onslaught of  Satan who hates all who call upon the God of the universe. We, who are the beloved, are hated and the wicked seek our destruction and it comes with words and actions. So how do we prepare for these war mongering words and actions? We do as the psalmist did: “As for me, I will continually tell what you have done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.” [Ps 75:9]

What words are you telling others about the God we serve? What song of praise are you singing today?
