Numbers 6 The Blessing

God gave Moses the prayer of blessing that Aaron was to pray over the people:

“The Lord bless you and protect you, The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace”

This is a marvelous prayer for the people and as Aaron was to pray this we imagine his heart was yearning for that blessing for himself and the people. There are three parts to this prayer: 1. May the Lord bless and protect you as you go in and go out. Carry these words to your heart so you remember that it is God who blesses. It is God who protects.  2. The character of God is in the second section. When we are in His will and obedient, we can count on God to shine His protective love over us and His graciousness will be upon us. 3. The Lord will lift, will shine over you as you live for Him and His countenance or His presence and His power will be showered upon the people.

Today stop and pray this for yourself and your loved ones and your church.

10.11.24.Giving From the Heart

God gifts men/women to do the work of the ministry

1 Cor 8 Giving

We set aside one day of the week for our tithing but there are other times when we give sacrificially to meet the needs of others. Paul had been collecting monies for the Jerusalem church. Many gave out of their hearts, not out of their abundance. In fact, they had little to nothing but gave and gave and gave that they might receive the blessing of being a part of the giving. God has seen and blessed these for their names and places are recorded in heaven. Paul records this: “with abundant joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in the wealth of their generosity. For I testify, they gave according to their means and beyond their means. They did so voluntarily, begging us with great earnestness for the blessing and fellowship of helping the saints.” [2 Cor 8:2-4]

Today, as then, we have many needs before us and it is time for us to open our pocketbooks to give sacrificially beyond our weekly tithing.

God’s Invitation Deserves a Response

2 Kings 18, 2 Chron 29-31, Ps 48 When you hear the word consecration, what comes to mind? It means to dedicate oneself to the work of the Lord, and that is what Hezekiah chose to do. As a result of this obedience to God, he was a righteous king, and the nation was also blessed. All the years Hezekiah was king, the nation was at peace.

One of the acts of Hezekiah was to reinstitute the Passover and invite all of the nation to attend.
He sent messengers with invitations as far north as Zebulun. But much like the people in Jesus’ parable in Luke 14:15-24, the people responded, ” Sorry, but I have work to do that cannot wait, ” followed by, “Please excuse me.” In addition, many mocked and ridiculed the messengers. Those who chose to come were blessed beyond measure, and those who scoffed missed that richest time of blessing.

God is pleased when we consecrate ourselves to His way and His work, and the contrast is also true. Will you consecrate yourself to the Lord and His work? Will you accept His invitation?

God Blesses…

God's Blessing

Exodus 38-40 It has been two whole years for the work of the Tabernacle to be completed.  In that time, the Israelites have left Egypt, seen the waters of the Red Sea roll back, grumbled, received the Ten Commandments, and were given quail and manna to eat.  Yes, God is a provider for every need.  In addition, He has given them work to do as they sat at the foot of the mountain.  He blessed them with two men to lead the building project with excellence.  They did ALL that the Lord commanded.

Now with the work completed, “Moses inspected all the work and they had done it just as the Lord had commanded—they had done it exactly—and Moses blessed them.”[Ex 39:43] God honored their work with the cloud of the Lord on the Tabernacle by day, but fire would be on it at night, in plain view of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.[Ex 40:38] Those were visible evidence of His blessing. Later, David would write “Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” [Ps. 119:105] so that we do not mistake which direction to take.

Are we doing all that the Lord commanded?  Is He blessing our work?  Is His Word our lamp and our light?

The World is Watching and Listening

1peter 3 watching worldaPeter continues to reveal to the beloved Christ followers how they can live, behave and react to those who live in a darkened world. Our walk with Christ begins in the home and moves on to those beyond to the entire world.

The home is the foundation and what is done there is revealed in how one lives in the church and in the marketplace. Family members must exhibit behavior that will turn the hearts of unbelievers to the Lord. Our walk and talk inside the home prepares us for our walk and talk outside the home. The home is where our lifestyle of harmony, sympathy, brotherly kindness, kindheartedness, humility, forgiveness and blessing will be noted by outsiders. The family is the preparation ground for how we are to answer anyone who asks about the hope we possess. And when and if we are accused and or slandered remember this principle: “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head.” [Rom 12:20] for in doing so we are following the principle found in the first chapter: Be ye holy as I am holy. That is the imperative that will win others to Him.

Today, is your home a sanctuary where you are living out a lifestyle that will turn the hearts of unbelievers? If they should ask why you live, behave and respond as you do what would be your answer?
